New Features and Changes
Migrate Bookmarklet to webReader
Note that this update will roll out the week of October 3rd.
The bookmarklet (AKA TextAid Web Reader tool) provides a way to listen to almost any website, and it has now been updated to use webReader instead of the Highlighting 2.5 player. It has nearly all the features of webReader, including Click and Listen, Text mode, and Enlarge text. Dictionary and Translate have been removed, since the bookmarklet is often used in exams, for instance in Respondus LockDown browser. The bookmarklet player features Open in TextAid (if it is enabled in your TextAid account) as well as a way to remove the player from the page, if you no longer need it.
If you haven’t yet installed the bookmarklet, go to TextAid and select Web Reading from the menu and follow the instructions under Computer > Other Browser. #6885
Display Number of Documents in Library
The My Library tab now has an indicator that displays how many uploaded documents are in the library and how many are allowed.
We have also added a help text that explains how the document quota limit works. Click on the blue circle with the questionmark in it to open the note. #6581
Only Inactivate Student Accounts
Even when automatic inactivation of user accounts is enabled, teacher/coordinator accounts will not be inactivated automatically, only student accounts. #7458
Notable Corrections
Disconnected Users Still Visible in Groups
Users that were removed from an account would still be displayed in groups that they were a part of. They will now be removed from the groups when disconnected from the account. #7450
Inactivated Users Still Take Up Room in Groups
User accounts that had been deactivated would still be displayed as an empty slot in the group views. This has now been corrected. #7449
Wrong Language in Calculator
We fixed an issue where the Clear button in the calculator would be read using the voice of the current document, but in the current UI language. This meant that if your UI language was Dutch, but the currently open document English, an English voice would read “Wissen”. #6924
