New Features and Changes
Width and Height Buttons #ta2
Buttons have been added for fitting the page horizontally/vertically to the browser window. #7004
Make Speech Audible Even in Silent Mode on Mobile #ta2
We are changing the behaviour for docReader when used on a mobile phone in silent mode. Previously, docReader did not play audio aloud when the device was on mute, but since audio never starts without the user actively initiating it, we have changed this so that audio is played aloud. #6855
Symbol Palette in Annotations #ta2
A palette with assorted symbols has been added to the annotations toolbar. This is useful for quickly adding checkmarks to a multiple choice questionnaire, for instance. The user can change the color and the size of the symbols as well as move them around on the page. #6818
Zoom Level Parameter
docReader now accepts the zoomlevel
parameter, which makes it possible for implementors to tell docReader to open a document at a specific zoom level, expressed in percent of the page area’s width. E.g. zoomlevel=80 means that the page width will be 80% of the width of the content area. The content area’s size will differ depending on the size of the browser window and whether the sidebar is visible. The zoom level will be rounded to the nearest tenth. The zoom level will be remembered when navigating between pages in the document. #6132
Support for Icelandic Dictionary
docReader’s dictionary feature now supports Icelandic. #6926
∗ Settings Panel Scrollable
The settings panel now has an improved layout with its own scrollbar, so that you don’t have to scroll the entire page to get to the bottom of the settings window. The Close button is more accessible as well. #6129
Notable Corrections
Wrong UI Language in some Situations
Some situations where language information was missing caused the wrong UI language to be displayed. This was for example reported in Brightspace. This has now been addressed. #7366
Voice Menu not Vertically Aligned #ta2
The voice menu had some vertical alignment issues (purely cosmetic) that have been fixed in this update. #7358
Voice Menu not Scrollable #ta2
For customers with many languages, it would sometimes be a problem that the voice menu did not scroll, thus making it impossible to select the last languages in the list. The voice menu now gets a dynamic height (depending on the window size) and a scrollbar is displayed when needed. #5602
