Release note

webReader September 2026 Hotfix (3.8.11 rev2992)

These changes were released in a hotfix on September 3rd, 2026.

New Features and Changes

Seamless Reading Speed Adjustment

Changing the reading speed now seamlessly resumes playback from the current text position, rather than restarting from the beginning of the page.

Translation Updates

Polished and proofread interface translations across multiple languages to ensure accuracy.

Extended TTS Support

Enabled Text-to-Speech (TTS) audio playback for Papiamentu translations.

Notable Corrections

Canvas New Quizzes Engine

In quizzes with one question per page, webReader previously read the content from the previous question instead of the current question. This has now been fixed, with a Listen button available for each question.

Canvas SpeedGrader

In SpeedGrader, duplicate webReader icons, along with a docReader icon, were appearing in the available links. This caused layout issues and introduced additional whitespace below SpeedGrader. This has now been fixed, and only one webReader icon is displayed.

Image Issue in BrightSpace

When clicking the Listen button in Chrome, images could disappear on pages where images were rendered inside a Shadow DOM. This issue has now been fixed, and images render correctly when using the Listen button.

Dictionary Styling

Fixed a layout issue that caused broken headers and styling in the Dictionary tool results for certain languages.

Pre-Initialization Visuals

Resolved a minor visual artifact that could briefly appear before the player was fully loaded.

Help Tool Media

Corrected an issue where outdated or incorrect images were displayed in the Help section.

Console Errors

Eliminated a false-positive console error that triggered if the popup player was dismissed before all scipts had been loaded.

System Stability

Prevented potential conflicts between webReader and the customer’s website environment to ensure a more reliable execution.

CSP Compliance

Enhanced security handling to ensure strict adherence to Content Security Policy (CSP) standards across all customer environments.
