These are the preliminary release notes for the March 2024 release. This is a limited release that focuses on the exam mode.
Planned release window: 2024-03-11 – 2024-03-15
New Features and Changes
Limit Access to an Exam based on IP number
We are introducing a feature that will allow customers to limit access to exams based on a range of IP numbers. This is useful if a school wants to make sure that students can take an exam only from a specific site. #7857
Single Seat
Previously, forgetting to log out of a TextAid session could result in a student not being able to log into an exam. Even though coordinator users are able to manually log out users, this can cause stress in an already stressful situation. From this release, the single seat setting will only apply to exam mode. This means that if students forget to log out of TextAid, they will still be able to access exam mode (from one location). And vice versa, if students forget to log out of exam mode, they will still be able to use their non-exam account. #8107
Log Out a Previous Exam Session
In combination with the changed Single Seat behavior, schools will now be able to enable users to log out of previous exam sessions when they log in. This means that if a student has forgotten to log out of exam mode, they can simply end the previous session and start a new one upon login. #8108
Notable Corrections
Prevent Resource Files from being Cached
TextAid’s version number will be included when loading script and style files, in order to prevent old versions cached in the user’s browser from being loaded. This should take away the need for a hard page reload after TextAid has been updated. #8302
Use Correct Language in the Calculator
The calculator’s C button would sometimes be read with the wrong voice, because TextAid would use the current reading language instead of the menu language. #6924
Add Terms of Use and Privacy Policy to the Login Page
Links to Terms of Use and Privacy Policy have been added to the login page, in order to make them available before you log in. #8389
Fixed an Issue with Sharing Folders
There were reports of issues with sharing folders with groups of users. This has been fixed. #8309
